I am sure all of you who live here in Burlington Ontario know that election day is October 25th.

Vote Burlington Oct 25th Please be sure to vote, it is so important and EVERY vote counts and matters.

However, if you can’t get out, or don’t want to wait in line – Burlington offers ON-LINE VOTING!  How cool and convenient is that!  Eligible Burlington voters will be able to cast their ballot over the internet for the 2010 municipal election.  Internet voting is an alternative voting method that does not require electors to attend at a voting place.

Just check out this site for further information on how to vote on line in this years election.

Vote online Tuesday, October 5 at 11 a.m. to Wednesday, October 13 at midnight, after the close of advance polls at 8 p.m.  Make sure you register first!

Well, I am sure most of you know that the HST came into effect on July 1, 2010.  There are many items NOT affected at all by the HST but there are others that are.  Check this link for a list of the changes.

Specific to Home Purchases, here are the changes that you will find:

5  The new housing rebate will be 75 per cent of the Ontario component of the HST, up to a maximum of $24,000. The rebate will ensure that buyers of homes priced up to $400,000 will, on average, pay no more tax than under the PST system. However, applicable PST on building supplies is embedded in the price of the home.

Living in Burlington Ontario, we are so lucky to be on the shore of Lake Ontario and have Spencer Smith Park so close to us.  All the activities, Festivals and events that take place there really make living in Burlington Ontario very special.

This week is no exception!!  Be sure to visit Spencer Smith Park on Thursday July 1 to celebrate Canada Day.

Activities include a 5 KM run, pancake breakfast, Dancers, Martial Arts Demonstrations, Dog Training Preformances and so much more.  And lastly,  but OF COURSE — FIREWORKS!!
